Mr. Beast, aka Jimmy Donaldson went past 100 million YouTube subscribers last week. He became only the fifth channel on the platform to hit the milestone. Live Countdown to 100 Million
Donaldson had a live stream subscriber countdown to 100 million on his YouTube channel which had more than 1 million live viewers.
Some Facts On Mr. Beast’s Videos
His latest video, ‘100 Girls Vs 100 Boys For $500,000’ has gained 42 Million views in just 8 days.
His Most Popular Video
8 months ago, Mr. Beast leveraged the popularity of the Netflix produced South Korean show ‘Squid Game’, to make a video titled ‘$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life’. The video became massively viral and is still the most popular video on his main channel with over 277 million views.
According to Social Blade, his videos have had 16 Billion views with a total of 725 uploads. He has gained over 2.1 Million subscribers in just the last 30 days.
Mr. Beast’s Older Videos
Jimmy has been making videos since he was 11 years old. His first video on his main channel had him playing Minecraft.
A deeper dive into his channel will show you more experimental, perhaps even obscure content, very different from what he does now. A video titled ‘I Counted To 100,000!’ released in 2017 has over 26 million views. This video features him on camera, painstakingly counting counting out loud from 0 to 100,000. Why? One would have to ask him.
Mr. Beast on Content Creation Strategy and Upcoming Videos
He has always been keen on honing his skills of creating content for YouTube. He believes that 95% of making it big on YouTube is skill-based and not attributable to luck or the algorithm randomly picking you to go viral.
Having had produced many high-budget productions, he is planning to put out his most expensive video yet on August 4.
Last week, YouTube announced many creator oriented changes, especially to its Live Shopping features. These changes were made to help creators run their own virtual marketplace in the rapidly growing creator economy.
Mr. Beast, in celebration of his channel milestone, is planning to launch new merchandise, available exclusively in YouTube’s Live Shopping feature.
